Arizona sets the maximum a notary may charge for each notarial act by statute, and nobody in the state may charge more. An “act” is one signature notarized on one document, so a packet with four notarized signatures carries four of them.
Separate from the notarial fee, and legally required to be presented that way. It covers the drive, the wait and the after-hours part where it applies, and it depends on where you are and when. Travel is quoted before the appointment is booked, never after.
Signing agent work is quoted per package rather than per signature, because that is how title and escrow companies buy it. Printing, scan-backs and same-day return are part of the quote, not extras discovered afterwards.
Two costs sit underneath this one: the state’s own fee for the apostille, and the notarization plus the running to the Secretary of State. Both are quoted before anything is submitted, along with an honest estimate of the state’s current turnaround.
Fees for notarial acts in Arizona are capped by A.R.S. § 41-316. Travel fees are not part of that cap and are charged separately, disclosed and agreed before the appointment.
